Sony has expanded its budget smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Xperia Ace 2. This device is the successor to the Xperia Ace announced in 2019. The company’s latest and most affordable products include the Helio P35 processor and dual camera modules. Does the Xperia Ace 2 have enough punch to withstand the chance to compete with its Chinese counterparts? Let’s check:

Sony Xperia Ace 2: What are the highlights?

The Sony Xperia Ace 2 offers a compact form factor with a 5.5-inch display. The panel supports standard 720 x 1496 pixel HD + resolution and features a water drop notch for selfie snappers. The side and top bezels are thin, but the bottom is thick.

The Xperia Ace 2 has a vertical dual camera setup in the upper left corner of the back panel. This setup provides a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth lens. The U-shaped notch has an 8MP camera for capturing selfies and making video calls.

At its core, the Xperia Ace 2 uses an entry-level MediaTek Helio P35 processor. The smartphone will be announced with a single 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration. The device also supports expandable microSD cards up to 1TB. This solves all storage crunch issues.

Xperia Ace 2 supports standard 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C ports for connectivity. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and Android 11 OS.

Smartphones are powered by a 4,500mAh battery. Finally, the device is IP68 certified and protects against dust and splashes.

Sony Xperia Ace 2 Price and Stock Status

Sony Xperia Ace 2 is announced in Japan for about 22,000 yen. 14,500 in Indian currency. The smartphone is available in a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration and will be available in shades of blue, black and white. The worldwide availability of this mobile phone is currently unknown.

Will the Xperia Ace 2 win the competition?

The Xperia Ace 2 has entry-level hardware. However, not all features here are out of date. The 13MP dual camera module and 4,500mAh battery saves one day on this phone. What’s more, the rest of the hardware is decent, giving this phone a fair chance for its league rivals.
