Flush your toilets while keeping their lids closed in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus

One of the most common places of coronavirus spread is your toilet. Scientists have finally found a link between the transmission of the disease and the source. Apparently, the jet stream of water which cleans your toilet while flushing is enough to spread the virus particles without you knowing it. These air particles may linger in the air long enough to be inhaled by a shared toilet’s next user or land on surfaces in the bathroom.

This toilet plume is not only gross. In simulations, we can see that this coronavirus still stays potent. The infectious particles can spread fast across people. However, the researchers have also come up with a solution to the problem.

It is still unknown whether public or shared toilets are a common point of transmission of the virus. The research highlights during the pandemic will make you rethink some of the common spaces people share. The aerosols in toilets are something that people know about for a while but many people have taken it for granted, says Joshua Santarpia, a professor of pathology and microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was not a part of the research. This study adds a lot of the evidence that everyone needs in order to take better action.

Typically, coronavirus is most at home in cells in the lungs and upper respiratory tract. But studies have found it can also dock to cell receptors in the small intestine. Patients have been experiencing diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, among other symptoms. The entire research study is present in the Journal named Physics of Fluids.
